Due to the rapid progress of IT and computer technologies, modern ways of studying - the idea of ​​distance learning is becoming more common.

Probably the most widespread e-learning solution that exists is Moodle. This software is primarily intended for educational institutions, although it can also be used for other purposes. It is based on the principle that it does not change the traditional methods of teaching, but in addition to the usual system of teaching that provides a number of benefits that were not previously available.

Moodle is essentially a set of tools that allows access to shared data, the exchange of educational material and the use of additional options in one place, which enable the wider functionality of that program.

The first version of Moodle was released in 2002 and has been continuously improved since then.

The abbreviation of the name Moodle - "Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment" literally translated into Serbian means modular dynamic environment of objects intended for learning. Over time, the program has reached a wide range of user base, and ranks first in the category of e-learning platforms, tools and software for school institutions. It should be mentioned that this software is also free.

Opportunities provided by adding different modules are monitoring of work, assessment and testing of students, communication between participants in the teaching process, as well as students and professors, along with many other useful options.

Moodle software is secure, customizable and its options are subject to change. Due to the modular design, the use of accessories and categories can change the look and functionality. Permissions for users are structured through nine categories, as a result of which flexibility is possible in the field of system security.
